other highlights from the evening included a completely improv qawwali with arcadia, myself, and basim & imran from the kominas. hopefully some video from that will surface soon as well!

what an incredible night!

i thought you all might enjoy watching this video clip from the kirtan i and the basement bhaktis did at the tea bazaar on may the 11th. the video isn’t perfect; it’s a little bit dark, and it skips in a few places. despite these caveats, it’s certainly not hard to watch, and the most important thing, the feeling(!!!) is pretty easy to absorb.

the lineup for that night was:

me: harmonium and lead vocals

arcadia williams: shruti box and vocals

patrick allen: keyboard and vocals

tom lynch:  accordian and vocals

mike johnson: drums

(first time basement bhakti) glenn reuther: djembe, doumbek, and shaker

as you can see, the room was really rocking for this chant! a few more videos were taken by glenn’s wife that will likely surface sometime in the future.
