On Tour Next Month!

The tour is approaching faster than I ever thought possible! I started planning this late last year, and as I’ve said on here before, it’s as much a labor of love as making Waves was. I have no label support, no booking agent, no management team. I’ve sent out what feels like a million emails, and received a lot of gracious response and offers of assistance from all over the east coast.

Here is the way things are standing at the moment. There are still a few holes in the schedule that I would absolutely love to fill. Open spots and general target areas are listed. If you’re in these areas and can assist us with contact info for potential hosts, or are willing to put up some wandering bhaktis for an evening, we are certainly ready, willing, and able to sing for our supper! Contact tour@jdavydwilliams.com if you think you can help.

Friday June 4th – Integral Yoga Institute, New York City New York
Saturday June 5th – Kitchari Kirtan, Cambridge MA, hosted by Tom Lena
Sunday June 6th – Venue TBA, Providence RI with the Inclined and Seismic Feedback
Monday June 7th – Currently Open! NY State, Massachusetts, Connecticut area would be ideal.
Tuesday June 8th – Ahimsa Yoga, Ithaca NY
Wednesday June 9th – Shakti Yoga, Buffalo NY
Thursday June 10th – Currently Open! Pittsburgh, PA area is ideal.
Friday June 11th – Currently Open! Morgantown WV is definitely on the path we’re traveling on, but so is Harrisonburg VA.
Saturday June 12th – Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar, Charlottesville VA

I’ll be bringing along my trusty Bina#26. Basement Bhaktis joining me on this tour will be:
Arcadia Williams: DJ/Loop Controls
Patrick Allen: Live synths
Marshall Camden: Live synths

…and of course, everyone will be singing.

You can expect to hear a mix of things from Waves, as well as a few traditional chants reinterpreted, and some new songs as well.

I am thrilled beyond words to get out on the bhakti path and meet and sing with a bunch of new people. We all are.

Om Shanthi,

Saturday April 24th

We’re coming up quickly on my first Kirtan in Staunton Va. I will be hosted by the lovely Shanti Om Yoga studio on West Beverley Street. Doors are at 7, and the cost is $8 dollars in advance or $10 at the door. I can’t wait to see you all there!

P.S. – Make sure to check out the Live page for the latest dates in my upcoming Summer Bhakti Tour!

This Thursday, Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar

I’m really, really excited about this show.

First of all, the lineup for this show, which tends to be different every time we play the bazaar, is going to feature both Marshall Camden on keyboards and Mike Johnson on percussion. Some of you may recognize those names; the three of us used to play together in the band In Tenebris.

This is going to be the most members of In Tenebris on stage at the same time since the band split up, so it’s really special for us. We have some great stuff cooked up to commemorate the occasion, and a few additional fun surprises as well.

Hope to see you all there!

Now Booking – East Coast Tour 2010

Greetings everyone. I’m quite excited to announce the decision to take this show on the road next summer! We’ve had a lot of fun playing in and around our back yard these last few months, and we’ve met a ton of new people, and I know that this is only going to get bigger and better as we go to new places.

As with the release of the album, Waves, this tour will truly be a labor of love. I have no booking agent, no promotional staff, no manager, and no street team. What I do have is a strong desire to get out there and bring this love and music to as many people as possible. I also have google, the help of some good friends and fellow musicians, and most importantly: you!

That’s why I’m writing now, to ask for your help. If you’re on the east coast and want me to come visit, send an email to tour@jdavydwilliams.com. What I’m looking for are specific venues that can host us for a night, and help us out with a little money, a place to stay, some (vegan) food and a certified way to get the word out about the show.

Good examples are yoga studios, open minded nightclubs, coffee shops, book stores, and churches… but basically, if it’s got a sound system and enough room for a chunk of people to sing kirtan in, it’s worth mentioning. Even the sound system isn’t totally required under the right circumstances!

The first date is already booked for June 4th, at the Integral Yoga Institute in NYC.

Expect to hear a lot about this from me in the coming months!

Om shanthi,

Jdavyd

This Friday at Twisted Branch!

My monthly kirtan at the Twisted Branch is coming up this Friday. I am really quite excited about this for a number of reasons. First of all, we’re going to be sharing the bill with Ali Youssefi, who is one of my favorite local singers. He performs deeply spiritual music steeped in the teachings of the baha’i faith, but also carries the interfaith torch as we do.

Secondly, I’m going to be playing with a different lineup of Basement Bhaktis. Arcadia and Patrick will be there on Shruti box and Keyboards, respectively, but I’m also going to be joined by Kevin Ardrey on drums and Chris Rhees on Djembe. Leia Manuel will be on hand to sing responses, and old school Basement Bhakti Courtney Miller will be joining her. You may even see accordian player Tom Lynch in the house… anything’s possible! There’s a lot of new and different energy in this lineup and I’m quite excited to share it with you all.

Doors are at 9pm, and the cost is $5. Here’s that flyer again, in case you missed it!
