What others are saying about Jdavyd…
I had never heard of Jdavyd, but I was so touched by his humble request to do a kirtan at Fish Tree I decided to go with my heart. As expected, if you go with the heart, the universe will give you the right answer.
As a business owner, I was impressed with the professional manner in which the event was handled. As a spectator, Jdavyd’s concert was inspiring, and his voice was absolutely beautiful and uplifting.
I was honored to host him at my yoga studio and look forward to another kirtan with him in the very near future.

There is one song in particular, the second track, Arunachala Shiva with which really resonates for me. It reminds me of a rather amazing bus ride that I took to visit Ramana Maharshi’s ashram (at Mt. Arunachala) in Tiruvannamali, Tamil Nadu. The bus driver was charging along with reckless abandon while playing a very loud tape that sounded very much like that particular track—at least in some respects. People carrying loads on their heads along the highways, ox-herders, motorcyclists, auto-rickshaws and all kinds of other vehicles on the shoulders of this narrow roadway scattered in all directions as the bus blasted through. Amazingly, imminent carnage was avoided by millimeters at every turn.If a cow had appeared, we’d have really been in trouble. They always have the right-of-way…

Shanti Om’s first live Kirtan was a joyous success due to the electrifying energy of Jdavyd and the Basement Bhaktis. Many of those in attendance had never experienced Kirtan or Jdavyd and expressed great delight at the performance they witnessed on this evening. Jdavyd and the Bhaktis sang from the place of hearts wide open and invited those present to join them in the magic. Jdavyd’s commanding voice, along with the multi-talented musicians accompanying him, stirred those present to be transported to a state of bliss. Can’t wait to have them back!

Jdavyd’s performance at Shanti was beautiful and electrifying. It was some of our students first Kirtan and it didn’t take long until everyone was heart wide open. We are still feeling it ! The energy in the studio is even more sacred and full of bhakti. I look forward to Jdavyd and The Basement Bhakti’s returning to Shanti Om again and again!

Downtown Staunton heard a new sound April 24th as local buisness Shanti Yoga of West Beverly Street invited Jdavyd Williams and the Basement Bhaktis to perform. This Charlottesville band mixes the sound of Kirtan chant with modern rock elements creating a unique sound experience.

Devoted To Music: It’s common to hear Hindu devotional songs in India, but on the streets of Charlottesville, they’re a rarity– especially when performed by a goth musician. WVTF’s Deepak Singh has the story.
